Current transformer ESS 50/5A
ESS 50/5 A current transformer
⚡ The ESS 50/5 A is a measuring current transformer designed to connect electricity meters, ammeters and monitoring devices to circuits carrying currents up to 50 A.
It converts the primary current into a standard 5 A secondary measuring current.
🔢 Meaning of 50/5 A
- 50 A — rated primary current;
- 5 A — rated secondary current;
- transformation ratio — 10:1.
Meter readings must be multiplied by 10 when this ratio is not programmed into the meter or AMR system.
🏭 Applications
- electricity meters with 5 A inputs;
- electrical panels;
- ammeters and measuring relays;
- technical energy metering;
- AMR systems;
- small commercial and industrial facilities.
🔌 Three-phase metering
A three-phase installation normally requires three identical 50/5 A current transformers, one for each phase.
🛡️ Critical safety rule
Never open the S1–S2 secondary circuit while primary current is flowing.
Before disconnecting the electricity meter, the secondary circuit must be short-circuited through an appropriate test terminal block.
⚙️ Construction
The Schetchik.uz listing specifies a support-type design and IP20 protection. The transformer must therefore be installed inside an enclosed electrical panel.
✅ Key advantages
- converts 50 A into a standard 5 A output;
- 10:1 transformation ratio;
- 50 Hz operation;
- compatible with 5 A electricity meters;
- no separate power supply required;
- suitable for AMR systems;
- IP20 protection;
- 36-month warranty.
⚠️ Important: confirm the accuracy class, VA burden and exact dimensions from the product marking and passport.
