🔥 OSTEN G6 — natural gas metering for private homes
OSTEN G6 measures natural gas volume in low-pressure networks. Its diaphragm measuring mechanism uses chambers with flexible membranes to register the volume of gas passing through the meter.
The model combines mechanical measurement with electronic functions: temperature correction, data transmission and shut-off valve control.
✅ Key features
- 0.06–10 m³/h measuring range. Supports several gas appliances when correctly sized.
- Temperature correction. Accounts for changes in gas volume caused by temperature changes.
- GSM/GPRS modem. Transmits data over a mobile network when connected and configured in the gas supplier’s system.
- Shut-off valve. Allows the control system to stop the gas supply.
🏠 Choosing the right meter
Use the combined maximum demand of appliances operating simultaneously, rather than appliance count alone. Compatibility with a cooker, boiler and water heater must be checked against their specifications and the approved gas supply design.
🛡️ Optional accessories
- Osten G6–G10 protective enclosure — for additional protection at a suitable installation location.
- Osten TRG-MK 10 pressure regulator — where specified by the design and suitable for the inlet pressure and required flow.
📦 Before ordering
Confirm the selected package, verification documents, SIM card availability and connectivity terms. Installation and connection to the gas supplier’s system must follow the approved arrangement. Use authorised specialists for installation and commissioning.
❓ OSTEN G6 frequently asked questions
Is OSTEN G6 suitable for a private home?
Yes, provided the gas supply parameters and combined appliance demand meet the meter specifications and approved design. This model has a maximum flow rate of 10 m³/h.
How many gas appliances can it serve?
There is no fixed number: cookers, boilers and water heaters have different gas demands. A specialist must check the combined maximum demand of appliances operating simultaneously.
What does G6 mean?
G6 identifies the meter size. For this model, the nominal flow is 6 m³/h and the maximum flow is 10 m³/h. It does not indicate the number of appliances that can be connected.
Is the meter mechanical or electronic?
It uses a mechanical diaphragm measuring mechanism. Its electronic section provides additional functions, including temperature correction and data transmission.
Why is temperature correction needed?
Gas volume changes with temperature. Temperature correction accounts for this change when determining the registered gas volume.
Does it transmit readings automatically?
The model is equipped with a GSM/GPRS modem. Data transmission depends on configuration, mobile coverage and connection to the gas supplier’s system. Confirm SIM card terms when ordering.
What is the shut-off valve for?
The valve allows the control system to stop the gas supply. Disconnection and reconnection procedures depend on configuration and gas supplier rules. Do not tamper with the valve.
When is the next metrological verification due?
The exact date depends on the individual meter’s valid verification document and applicable requirements. Check the verification date and document validity for the selected package before purchase.
Do I need a separate enclosure and regulator?
These are selected according to the installation conditions and approved design. An Osten G6–G10 enclosure can be considered. A regulator is needed only where pressure requirements call for one; a specialist must confirm compatibility.
Can I install the meter myself?
Use authorised specialists for installation, leak testing, documentation and commissioning. Before purchasing, confirm the model and connection arrangement with your service organisation.
