Gas tariffs in Uzbekistan in 2026: prices and billing

From 1 June 2026, metered households in Uzbekistan pay UZS 1,100 per m³ of natural gas within the basic allowance. The allowance is 500 m³ per month during the heating season and 100 m³ in other months. Consumption above it is charged in higher tariff blocks.

Information checked: 11 October 2026.

📌 When do the 100 and 500 m³ allowances apply?

The season determines how much gas is charged at the basic rate. The heating period starts earlier in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm.

Area 500 m³ per month 100 m³ per month
Tashkent and all regions except those listed below November–February March–October
Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm Region October–February March–September

In October, the allowance is 100 m³ in Tashkent and 500 m³ in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm.

This is the established calendar schedule. The application dates of seasonal allowances may be changed by a separate official decision in response to weather conditions. Such a change does not automatically change the price per m³.

Natural gas rates for metered households

The prices were approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 243 of 15 May 2026 and apply from 1 June 2026. All rates below are in Uzbek soums per m³ and include VAT.

How to calculate your gas charge

A higher rate applies only to consumption within its corresponding block. Exceeding the allowance does not make the entire month's consumption more expensive.

  1. Find consumption for the billing month by subtracting the opening meter reading from the closing reading.
  2. Select the seasonal allowance for your region.
  3. Split consumption into the tariff blocks.
  4. Multiply each portion by its rate and add the results.

For example, monthly consumption is 150 m³. With a 100 m³ allowance, the calculation is 100 × 1,100 + 50 × 2,000 = UZS 210,000. During the heating season, the entire volume falls within the 500 m³ allowance: 150 × 1,100 = UZS 165,000.

Monthly consumption Cost with a 100 m³ allowance, UZS Cost with a 500 m³ allowance, UZS
100 m³110,000110,000
150 m³210,000165,000
500 m³910,000550,000
700 m³1,310,000950,000

For 700 m³ during the heating season: 500 × 1,100 + 200 × 2,000 = UZS 950,000. In other months: 100 × 1,100 + 600 × 2,000 = UZS 1,310,000.

These examples show the cost of gas consumed over a full month. Previous debt, payments and billing adjustments can change the amount you need to add to your account.

What does gas cost without a meter?

The following VAT-inclusive rates apply to households without a gas meter:

  • Cooking and hot water supply — UZS 2,000 per m³.
  • Heating — UZS 1,550 per m³.

These are prices per cubic metre, not fixed charges per person or property. The amount is calculated using the applicable consumption norms. Ask your supplier to provide the assessed volume, its calculation basis and a breakdown for each use of gas.

Business customers and bottled gas

For customers outside the special categories in Resolution No. 243, the natural gas price is UZS 2,000 per m³. For automotive compressed natural gas filling stations, it is UZS 2,750 per m³. VAT is included. Organisations should check their classification and billing terms against their supply contract.

Bottled liquefied petroleum gas is a different product. Its price per kilogram cannot be calculated using this natural gas table in m³. Check the bottled-gas price with the relevant supplier.

Compensation for eligible households

Families meeting the programme's conditions can receive compensation for the difference between the basic and next rate. Depending on consumption, gas compensation can reach UZS 225,000 per month during the heating season or UZS 135,000 in other months.

Check eligibility with your mahalla's social worker, an Inson social services centre or by calling 1140. Payments are not automatically granted to every customer.

How to check charges and reduce consumption

  1. Compare the billing month, consumption, payments and outstanding balance.
  2. Check which seasonal allowance was applied.
  3. Keep a dated photograph of your meter reading and payment receipts.
  4. If figures differ, contact your local gas supplier or call 1104. Request a breakdown by tariff block.

To save gas, reduce heat loss through windows and doors, use the manufacturer's temperature controls and arrange professional boiler servicing. Do not adjust gas safety controls yourself.

If you need to select a meter, browse the gas meter catalogue at Schetchik.uz. Before buying, check model, flow capacity and installation requirements with your gas supplier.

⚠️ If you smell gas: do not use flames or switch electrical appliances on or off. If safe, shut off the gas, open windows, leave the building and call 104 from a safe location.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions About Gas Tariffs and Bills

Click or tap a question to reveal the answer ↓

What does the basic gas allowance mean?

It is the monthly volume charged at the basic tariff. Gas within this allowance is still paid for. To calculate a bill, identify the allowance applicable to your region and billing month, then allocate consumption to the relevant tariff blocks.

How do I calculate monthly gas consumption?

Subtract the opening meter reading from the closing reading for the billing month. For example, readings of 1,210 and 1,360 m³ give consumption of 150 m³. Keep dated photographs so you can compare your records with the provider’s readings.

How does billing work when consumption crosses a tariff block?

Calculate each portion at the rate assigned to its block, then add the amounts. Under the block method described in this article, crossing the basic allowance does not move the entire month’s consumption to the higher rate.

How can I check the calculation examples in this article?

For the example using a 100 m³ allowance and monthly consumption of 150 m³, 100 × 1,100 + 50 × 2,000 = UZS 210,000. This demonstrates the calculation using the article’s stated rates. Use the rates and allowance applicable to your own billing period when checking an actual bill.

Why can the same gas consumption produce different seasonal charges?

A different seasonal allowance changes how much consumption falls into each tariff block. Compare the billing month, regional schedule and any official changes to that schedule before comparing two bills. Turning on your boiler does not itself determine the allowance.

How can I avoid adding VAT twice?

Check whether the quoted tariff includes VAT. The tariff tables in this article are labelled VAT-inclusive. Use those figures directly when following the examples, without adding VAT again.

What is the difference between the consumption charge and the account balance?

The consumption charge covers gas used during a specified period. The account balance also reflects payments, previous debt or credit and billing adjustments. Compare these items separately to understand the amount you need to pay.

What should I prepare if my gas bill differs from my calculation?

Prepare your account number, billing period, dated meter photographs, bill and payment receipts. Request a breakdown showing the recorded consumption, seasonal allowance, tariff blocks and adjustments. Compare each item with your records and keep the enquiry reference number.

How can a gas meter help me manage consumption?

Regular readings help you track usage and compare similar periods. A compatible smart meter can also simplify reading collection once connected to the provider’s system. Lower consumption comes from reducing heat loss, using equipment appropriately and arranging professional servicing; a new meter alone does not guarantee savings.

How do piped natural gas and bottled gas bills differ?

This article’s tables concern piped natural gas measured in cubic metres. Bottled liquefied petroleum gas is a different product, commonly priced by weight. Use the bottled-gas supplier’s price and quantity information rather than applying a natural-gas rate per m³.
