Water charges in Uzbekistan depend on the location, service provider and customer category. Drinking water, sewerage and centrally supplied hot water have separate tariffs. Before calculating your bill, check which organisation serves your address and which services appear on your invoice.

💧 Cold water and sewerage
The table covers selected providers. All amounts include VAT and apply to one cubic metre of the relevant service.
| Location and provider | Customer category | Drinking water, UZS/m³ | Sewerage, UZS/m³ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tashkent city, Toshkent shahar suv ta’minoti JSC | Households | 1,568 | 1,120 |
| Tashkent region, Toshkent viloyati suv ta’minoti JSC | Households | 3,472 | 1,680 |
| Tashkent region, Toshkent viloyati suv ta’minoti JSC | Budget-funded organisations and wholesale customers | 17,920 | 4,480 |
The regional provider’s figures reflect the new October 2026 rates. They do not automatically apply to every customer in Tashkent region: other providers may have separately approved tariffs.
How bills are calculated in Tashkent
The city water utility’s official table distinguishes between the following property service categories when billing through the cold-water meter:
- drinking water only — UZS 1,568/m³;
- drinking water and sewerage without central hot water — UZS 2,688/m³;
- drinking water, sewerage and a connection to the central heating network — UZS 3,808/m³.
For the last category, the table applies a doubled sewerage component: 1,568 + 2 × 1,120 = UZS 3,808. The hot-water supply charge itself is billed separately.
Example: 10 m³ recorded by the cold-water meter costs UZS 26,880 for a property with sewerage but no central hot water, or UZS 38,080 for the corresponding category with central hot water. This example excludes the hot-water supply charge, outstanding debt and billing adjustments.
Hot water in Tashkent
Veolia Energy Tashkent’s published household table sets out the following VAT-inclusive rates from 12 November 2025:
| Billing conditions | Tariff |
|---|---|
| With a hot-water meter | UZS 8,928.67/m³ |
| Without a hot-water meter | UZS 52,303.39 per person per month |
| Dormitory with shared showers | UZS 38,908.16 per person per month |
These rates concern Veolia’s services in Tashkent. If a domestic water heater heats your water, heating costs depend on the electricity or gas consumed.
🧾 Checking your bill
- Find the provider’s name and your customer category in the contract or invoice.
- Compare the opening and closing meter readings. Their difference is the consumption for the period.
- Check VAT, sewerage charges and your property’s service category.
- If something differs, ask the provider for an itemised calculation and the basis for the tariff applied.
Without a meter, charges depend on the approved consumption standard, the number of residents counted for billing and the water supply arrangements. There is no single monthly amount for every household.
For individual customers, advance payment for heating and hot water protects against additional charges following a tariff increase for no more than two months from payment. A promise to retain the tariff for 12 months should not be used.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions About Water Bills in Uzbekistan
Click or tap a question to reveal the answer ↓
How do I find the correct water tariff for my home?
Identify your service provider, location and customer category on your contract or bill. Then check the provider’s tariff for the billing period. This helps you use the rate that applies to your address rather than a figure for another city or customer category.
How do I calculate water consumption from meter readings?
Subtract the opening reading from the closing reading. For example, if the meter increases from 125 to 135 m³, consumption is 10 m³. Use readings for the same dates as the billing period and check that the bill refers to the correct meter.
How do I calculate a metered water charge?
Multiply consumption in cubic metres by the applicable rate per cubic metre. Calculate each billed service separately where required, including sewerage. Then check any previous balance, payments or adjustments shown on the bill.
How can I check the sewerage component of my bill?
Look for the sewerage line or the breakdown of the combined rate. Confirm which property service category the provider has assigned to your address. This lets you distinguish the drinking-water charge from wastewater services and avoid counting an included component twice.
How can I avoid adding VAT twice?
Check whether the published rate already includes VAT. The water tariff tables in this article are labelled VAT-inclusive. Use those figures directly when following the examples, without adding VAT again.
How are centrally supplied hot water and water heated at home different?
Centrally supplied hot water is billed under the hot-water provider’s conditions. If you heat cold water with your own electric or gas water heater, the heating energy is reflected in your electricity or gas consumption, alongside the applicable water and sewerage charges.
What should I check when water is billed without a meter?
Check the consumption standard, number of residents counted and services assigned to the property. Ask for an itemised calculation so you can see how the billed amount was obtained. A standard-based bill uses these inputs rather than an actual meter-reading difference.
How can regular meter readings help reduce water waste?
Record readings regularly and compare consumption over similar periods. An unexpected increase can help you notice a leaking tap, running toilet or changed usage. A meter helps you track consumption; repairing leaks and changing habits are what reduce waste.
What should I prepare if my water bill looks incorrect?
Prepare the bill, account number, meter serial number, dated reading photographs and payment confirmations. Ask the provider to check the readings, tariff period, customer category and service breakdown. Keep the enquiry reference number for follow-up.
What information helps me choose a suitable water meter?
Confirm cold- or hot-water use, connection diameter, installation length, operating conditions and the provider’s requirements. If remote reporting is needed, also check communication compatibility. These details help you select a suitable model before arranging installation and registration.
