PRIME GA-16 aluminium connecting sleeve

⚡ The PRIME GA-16 is a cable sleeve designed for joining aluminium wires and cables by crimping.

It provides a strong permanent connection between two aluminium conductors with a nominal cross-section of 16 mm².

🔧 Applications

🔩 Crimp installation

The stripped conductors are inserted from opposite sides and compressed with a suitable press and GA-16 crimping die.

A proper crimping tool, aluminium contact compound and suitable insulation are required.

Do not crimp the sleeve using a hammer, ordinary pliers or unsuitable tools.

🪨 Electrical-grade aluminium

The sleeve is made of electrical-grade aluminium compatible with aluminium cable conductors.

A standard GA sleeve must not be used for a direct aluminium-to-copper joint. A purpose-designed bimetallic sleeve is required for that application.

⚡ Networks up to 10 kV

The product is stated as suitable for electrical networks with operating voltage up to 10 kV.

🛠️ Installation procedure

1. Disconnect the electrical circuit and verify that it is de-energised.
2. Select a sleeve, press and die suitable for 16 mm² conductors.
3. Remove the insulation without damaging the conductor strands.
4. Clean the aluminium oxide layer immediately before assembly.
5. Apply a suitable conductive contact compound for aluminium.
6. Insert both conductors to the required depth.
7. Crimp at the specified positions.
8. Check the mechanical strength of the joint.
9. Restore insulation using heat-shrink tubing or another approved method.
