UzMeter DN50 electronic cold-water meter with SWEM modem
💧 The UzMeter DN50 + SWEM modem is a ready-to-use solution for measuring cold-water consumption and transmitting readings remotely. The set is suitable for commercial metering at industrial facilities, production sites, administrative buildings, residential complexes and utility systems.
The set uses an ultrasonic water meter. It measures water flow by comparing the travel time of an ultrasonic signal through the flowing water. There is no rotating impeller in the measuring section, so mechanical contaminants have less effect on the wear of the measuring mechanism.
The meter is powered by an integrated battery, while readings are transmitted through a separate SWEM modem. The SIM card and mobile-operator services are purchased separately.

📡 How readings are transmitted
The meter measures the instantaneous flow and accumulated water volume and sends the data to the SWEM modem. The modem then transfers the information through a mobile network to a compatible metering platform.
Supported connection and data-transmission methods may include:

RS-232 and RS-485 are wired communication interfaces used between the meter, modem, controller or supervisory system.
Mobile-network operation requires an active SIM card, a suitable tariff, a positive balance and stable operator coverage at the installation location.
📶 Conditions for stable modem operation
- availability of the selected operator’s 2G network;
- an active SIM card;
- an enabled data tariff;
- correct APN settings;
- sufficient mobile-signal strength;
- protection of cables and connectors against moisture;
- modem access to a compatible server;
- correct configuration of the reading platform.
Signal may be weakened in a basement, reinforced-concrete chamber or metal enclosure. Modem relocation, an external antenna or another communication method may then be required.
🌊 Ultrasonic measuring principle
The meter compares the travel time of an ultrasonic signal in the direction of water flow and against the flow. The difference is used to calculate water velocity, flow rate and accumulated volume.
This measuring method provides:

The meter’s IP68 rating does not mean that the modem, cable connections and SIM card may remain underwater without additional protection. The modem must be installed according to its own documentation.
